Frequently Asked Questions

Question: What does membership include?

Answer: Each member receives the bi-monthly newsletter that keeps Ontario retailers up-to-date on Ontario wide issues as well as national issues. In addition, each member receives access to on-line Responsible Retail Training (We-Expect-ID) free of charge.  Each member also receives an in-store point-of-sale age verification decals.

Question: How does OCSA communicate with my store?

Answer: Each member should identify their store address, phone number, fax number (if available) and most importantly, an email address in order for the OCSA to quickly and cost effectively talk to its members. The OCSA will not send promotional materials or re-sell store information to anyone including associate members that may wish to promote their products or services.

Question: How much does membership cost?

The annual membership fee is $150.00 per store (plus HST) payable by cheque, Visa, and MasterCard.  Multiple stores qualify for discounted memberships.  Please contact the OCSA at (905) 845-9152.   Membership forms can be emailed to info@ontariocstores.ca.

Question: If an employee fails a mystery shop by a Tobacco or Lottery Inspector, how will the OCSA assist me in this problem?

The OCSA cannot provide legal advice but can direct you to individuals that have experience on these matters.  If your employee has received and successfully completed We-Expect-ID on-line training, then the OCSA can provide you dates of proof of training to assist you with due diligence.
